It's that time again. I'll be here from 6 - 2:30 if anybody has anything they want to discuss.

I'd envy you if I were still single and childless. My body clock hates my currect schedule, but it works for the family lifestyle I'm currently living.

Shift work is seriously challenging. Very hard to do and it's so very taxing on the system, both physically and mentally.
I hated it when I did early in my computer career. Of course, working days but getting calls in the middle of the night sucks just as bad.
Hopefully, you can get some good reading in, Scott.
Also, commuting could be good depending on what you're doing and where.
Heh, I remember getting off work at 12:30 am Friday nights from my computer operations job way back when.
I would hit the liquor store adjacent to the IBM building in downtown Chicago and buy a six pack of brew. Crack one open and then fly down Lake Shore Drive - windows opens guzzling the cold liquid like a thirsty man in the dessert. I'd get off at Hollywood and head to the all night pizza slice joint on Broadway. I'd buy a slice of sausage pizza and sit on the hood of my '76 Grand Prix, eating and drinking (six pack on the roof) while police cars flew by on there way to various crimes in progress. Pop, pop and pop goes the gun shots. Ring, ring ring goes the fire-engine bell and siren, siren siren goes the ambulance. Holy cats, how the heck did anyone sleep on the friggin' weekend???
Ahh, the old days - man it was crazy. I smile and miss them, but on the other hand I used 5 or 6 of my cat lives up back then.
Whoa, sorry for the babble . . . memories flying tonight. ;D

Back in the 90s when I worked at AT&T, I worked a 2 pm - 9:30 pm schedule. It was the ultimate clubbing/bar hopping schedule.

I'm working from home now, and my company is based in Utah (they bought my old company here in Philly), so I tend to start a bit later than I would otherwise. Of course, I also finish later. I think I would prefer a 7:00-3:00 schedule, but I'm not sure I could drag myself out of bed at that hour.
Of course since the baby's been born our schedule has been really off.

I'm off today, and my daughter is currently napping, so I'm enjoying a spot of "Dad time"! ^__^

I cherish their nap time. It's my only real free time.

Getting to work was tough today. I had some friends over for dinner, and stayed up later and drank more wine than I should have. It took some extra effort to drag myself out of bed at four in the AM. I made chicken marsala, and it was excellent.

Give yourself some credit for not calling off. I will try to remember not to complain about having to get up at 6:30.

A coffee pot with a timer, and a Starbucks across the street helps.

I would thank someone other than Rao, the god of serenity, for the caffeine buzz. Maybe Pelor would be a more likely source for the sunshine in a cup.
