I always felt that the cloud giant's cloud islands needed more detail, so I added some specific abilities to that class of giants:
Cloud Giant
Cloud Giants have three innate abilities that allow them to exist and build among actual clouds. The first is Cloud Form, which enables the giant to alter the substance of cloud vapor by contact/touch into a more solid substance that retains its aerial buoyancy. This altered cloud-stuff is slightly elastic yet durable. It is with this ability that the cloud giants can form the cloud islands that they are sometimes found upon. They may affect up to 3600 cubic feet of cloud/day with this ability (thus, say, a platform 40 feet by 30 feet with a 3-foot depth). The effect is permanent unless somehow magically dispelled or disintegrated. The giant may also reverse this ability to render the cloud form back into vapor at the same rate.
The next ability is Cloud Shroud and it allows the giant to summon nearby clouds and water vapor from the air to form a concealing cover about the giant and its abode. The cumulus clouds favored by cloud giants are typically located between 6,000 and 20,000 feet in altitude, and this ability can cover anything in that range, centered on the casting giant. This ability takes one turn to complete and will last for 12 turns. The concealing clouds will last one turn less for every 10 mph of wind speed that they are subjected to beyond 20 mph, slowly stranding away and dissipating. This ability is usable once each day.
The final ability is Cloud Guide, which allows the giant to cause its cloud island to drift in a specific direction, by concentration. The giant may also cause the cloud’s speed to increase at 10 mph/turn (thus, after three turns of concentration, the giant will have increased the cloud’s velocity by 30 mph beyond its original movement rate). Note that flying against the wind adds the ambient wind speed to the cloud’s desired speed, so directly countering an opposing wind speed in excess of 100 mph is effectively impossible. As an example, a giant attempting to full-reverse against a 60 mph tail wind will still have moved forward at 30 mph after three turns of concentration. After 6 turns, the cloud will have effectively stopped, and will then begin moving against the wind! If tacking across or diagonal to a tailwind, consider there to be no effective impediment. The cloud giant may use this ability three times each day for up to 10 turns each time.
