I thought we talked about this before, but I can't find the thread now. Maybe it was on my older boards that I deleted years ago. What monk characters of 8th level or above have been mentioned in Greyhawk? The ruler of the Scarlet Brotherhood is a 14th level monk. There is a monk slave lord, or maybe two. What were their names and levels? Terry Kuntz's monk was not official, but maybe worth considering. Who else?

Brother Milerjoi is the 9th level monk from the Scarlet Brotherhood who was accepted into the Council of the Slave Lords. His disciple is Brother Kerin, a 6th level monk.
There as a monk referred to as Master of the North Wind (9th level) who fights Gord in the battle of Strandkeep Castle in "Artifact of Evil."
I can't think of any others 8th level or above... Li Hon is a pregenerated character in C2, and Turuko is a "Bakluni of unknown parts" in T1 -- but both are under 8th level.

Since there is only one 9th level monk, I think I would go with the Scarlet Brotherhood monk. Brother Milerjoi is either dead, or knocked back to 8th level, or maybe we could say they were the same person.

Here's the thread that started in 2005 but was resurrected earlier this year: Greyhawk Monks I was getting deja vu...

The search function on ProBoards must suck. I never find anything when I look.

If you've got a red belt, then there's not much more advancing for you to do, at least in the art I prefer.

Not much in any of the arts that count (OOOOOOhhhh!!!!)! But, no I do not really. ^__^ I had kempo, aiki jitsu and some ju jitsu. Allow me simply to say that I'm not even a black belt! Now, my brother on the other hand... ^__^

I’ve taken Okinawan and Chinese kenpo, tang soo do, and judo lessons. I swear by the judo. Kendo/kenjutsu is something I’ve always wanted to try.

Kendo would be great... I bought some manuals on that and shaloin sword, and tried 'em out on my own. Compared to my manual on medieval sword techniques, it's certainly more elegant. One manual actually shows a method of dealing with multiple armed opponents (eight, I believe...) that was supposed to be based on an actual encounter! However, despite the blade flexibility, I don't know that I'd want to trust a block against a claymore on the downstroke with a katana!
