That's one big storm. 'Only' a catagory 2, but huge. It's expected to get stronger. The secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security made an amusing statement. When talking about people not evacuating because of 'hurricane fatigue' he said, "Unless you're fatigued with living, I suggest you want to take seriously a storm of this size and scale". At the moment, Galveston, TX is the city in the crosshairs. I've been there. Most memorable view of the moon I can remember, full, big, and low over the Gulf of Mexico. I got severe sun poisoning there the next day.

I remember that the water off the beach was shallow and all brown from storms; the next day at Corpus Christi the water had cleared somewhat and a dogfish or something caused the life guard to call us all in! ^__^
