So given the description of Fraz Urb'luu's plane as "dreary and disgusting" and that it shapes itself to the demon lord's will, do you think this might be the prototype for Ojukalazogadit?

The thought had crossed my mind.

Its probably a good start. The demon lord "Var-Az-Hloo" is mentioned briefly but several times throughout the Gord stories. If he is another name for Fraz (which is unlikely as "Mandrillagon" starts out as a "nom de guerre" versus T$R for "Demogorgon" and then later "Demogorgon" and "Mandrillagon" our brothers with short descriptions showing him as a big-fanged,blue-faced and ape-bodied demon.) then he isn't associated with Ojukalazogadit. When Demogorgon orders the sacrifice to "O" there was no referring to Var-Az-Hloo who was allied with Demogorgon's armies.

Yeah, Var-Az-Hloo was definitely Fraz, though Gary never admitted that Mandrillagon was originally Demogorgon ( which I still contend that he was, due to ownership issues that loomed... and I was there! ^__^)

Well, I was going by a solid "hunch" on his creative style.
When I had a map of Greyhawk from his novel on my website all "prettied up", he checked it out and then insisted that I flesh it out so he could "see it closer" and he would provide further insight if I did so. I never had any pre-conceived notion about doing so but coming from him I was all ears. Whenever I would produce information compiled, lined up and given a light touch of extra aesthetic to round it out most of the time he would say that it is "perfect as it is with plenty of room for further development". I think this was his creative philosophy and I think thats why so many fall short in their rpg endeavors.
Anyway, he might have done a "Saint Trowbane" on "Var-Az-Hloo" as well. That is, we all know by now that Trowbane was sort of a placeholder and the same could have been said for Var. He could have been a "Fraz placeholder" since there were so many "light touches" regarding Var's appearance in the novels. He's called handsome which is FUL's description however it may be sarcasm after all they are demons, right? If GG went back into the franchise they most likely would have been separate entities and still he'd add even more light touches for further development, etc., etc.. Thats just my guess on on how his creativity worked.
