So... Friday evening I was on the computer when the power went off. After a muttered curse ( I was in the middle of a game and hadn't saved...) I hear a CRASH!!! and turn to see part of an 800 pound chunk of maple tree sticking through one of my living room windows. And only five feet from where my daughter was playing! They said on the radio (battery-powered) that a "vortex" passed over... looking outside I see several trees knocked over and part of a roof torn off in a two-block section of town... maybe "brief touch-down of a tornado" would be more accurate! Then, it rains all day Saturday and the rivers just south of us are already flooded. So, even with two sump pumps goin', I get 15 inches of water in my basement!! Luckily, I have all pertinent and vulnerable material elevated on shelves in the basement, and that chunk of tree grazed the roof on its way to the window--instead of goin' through it; so I guess I was actually fortunate here... ^__^

After the earthquake, I'd be inclined to believe that I pissed off a Druid! (I know-technically Clerical, but they all pertain to nature!) ^__^

A few slates off the roof after a stormy night is the coming of the apocalypse over here ~ I guess we don't know how lucky we are!

Sorry to hear about that, Greg. Thankfully all of your 'treasures' made it through unscathed.

It's not as bad as the wrath of the Dark Druids GT is facing, but after I got home from work yesterday I had to deal with a five hour power outage caused by an overloaded transformer, or a downed wire. I called the power company twice and got two different messages.

I love how wishy-washy the descriptions can be for these things. I had a tornado pass about a quarter mile from my house several years ago. I watched it come over a ridgeline then continue on over the next mountain. It left a path about a hundred yards wide for several miles that had every tree in it knocked over and several homes were roofless. The weather service reported that even though dozens of people reported seeing a funnel the damage was caused simply by "high winds." GT, glad to here the family was alright and none of the damage was extensive.

Thanx, Scotty & Stranger! Yeah, overall, everything worked out OK! ^__^ And Gene, you are absolutely correct--it does dampen gaming, but overall I'm an eternal optimist and recover quicky (heck, you met me so you know what I mean!) ^__^

Wow, GT. Sorry to hear this. But glad no one was hurt. The tornadoes missed us by a few miles south. Whew. I can hardly believe when they say that the T is a 1/2 mile wide. Whenever it storms I shut down all computer and TV/DVD equipment. Even with surge protectors I know better. They won't stop a lightening strike surge through the house. Anywho, hopefully your insurance will pay up!
