Where are you in Scotland? I'm a MacGregor on my father's side, and a Condie from New Cumnock in Ayrshire on my mother's.

Really!? Whoa, hadn't expected that! One of my best friends is a MacGregor. I'm in Dundee, on the east coast ~ born and bred. My surname is Isles (which is quite rare, even though these islands are someytimes known as the British Isles ~ we make no claim, lol), and I'm of clan MacDonald. We're more precisely MacDonald of the Isles, which I believe is the head of the MacDonald clan, but we must have been an offshoot of the hereditary family at some point (likely several hundred years ago). I have parts of my family tree going back two hundred years, all in this area, and yet the seat of clan MacDonald is the Isle of Skye. One of these days, when retirement looms, I'll look into it more. And that's todays slice of Scottish genealogy! On another note, I always thought about basing one of my characters in Greyhawk's Lordship of the Isles, with a claim to the title...but I always liked RPing elves. ;D

Oh, and I meant to add ~ how long have your family lived stateside? Some of my long-lost relatives moved to Canada many years ago...but don't hold it against me. I'm Graham btw, but you can call me by either name.

The Condie grandfather (maternal) moved to the States between WWI and WWII. The MacGregor side has been here since the mid 1700s, maybe a little earlier.
