Wow. I would've cashed in some 401K for that. Just as well I didn't see it, I reckon... ^__^ I don't think that Steve got any credit on the crap that was to become the Manual Of Planes--the only useful thing I got outta that was the Mortai. That auction was just a glimpse of some things that might have been, I guess. At any rate; is Steve recently deceased or something? I just can't picture him selling off that stuff otherwise... anybody know?

Steve Marsh has not deceased. In fact, he is a practicing lawyer in TX. Paul J. Stormberg (of DF and other places) has had contact with Steve and other ex-TSR employees regarding selling off "stuff." Prior to this lot, he had sold several things for the ailing David C. Sutherland III. The stuff is legitimate and there were several inquiries on DF's Reviews and The Acaeum's forums about the implications of self-publishing some of this material or offering it "free" via someone's website. Steve is apparently just cleaning house.
That's all I know...

Bill's spot on that Steve is merely cleaning house. Here's the post on the DF forum where Steve actively answers some questions on things. www.dragonsfoot.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8672GT, as far as improvstone == Merric I would say no. I've corresponded with him several times on the Acaeum forums and he always listed his name as Mike. Whoever he is he has dived head first into collecting, dropping very high sums of money to ensure that he wins the auctions, everything from Dragon magazines to modules to the old OD&D box sets. -d

Hopefully, he'll do what Steve said he might: post 'em or release copies to fellow gamers. Hopefully, they won't languish incognito in a Dragon's hoard somewhere... ^__^

I believe Grodog is contacting the owner trying to get it published through Different Worlds. That would be cool... Regards.

Perhaps Grodog can go to the source then... ^__^ How cool would that be? Between what's there and what's in the Gord books, a fairly good picture of "coulda been" could be had.

Steve Marsh stated quite clearly that he would be retaining copyright on all this stuff. You're both quite correct: Tadashi and I are hoping to work with the owners of the mss. to publish them, perhaps using the C&C rules (if they're workable, I haven't seen the finalized versions yet). Steve would certainly retain all IP to his creations.
