I know this is a kickstarter Luke Gygax is doing with Gooey Cube and it raised over $600,000... but what is it, exactly? Did anyone pledge to it? They were promoting it everywhere at GARY CON but I didn't understand what it is, exactly, so I didn't pledge. I don't really do kickstarters anyway. It vaguely looks to me like Castle Greyhawk with Zagyg (a stand in for EGG) who rules for a while and then disappears and is thought dead, and then later an NPC (a stand in for Luke Gygax) retires from the military and hires or prompts the party to help him find out the fate of his father. If I'm right, then this may simply be Luke Gygax's version of the Dungeons of Castle Greyhawk, or heavily based upon playing in his dad's dungeon.

I still haven't got the Ernie crowdfunded thing as it seems too bizarre of a price tag. That said from what I can critically ascertain of this Gyzaengaxx thing: Luke Gygax does not seem to be mainly interested in "OSR" in game style (or live playing) at a glance and a character illustration handout has his face so its not likely to be put together by him. ? The co-author 'Alphinius Goo/Kim Shugart is a marketing executive for a company that specializes in fun and games so he seems very superfluous at a glance. ? The crowdfunding site is kind of hinting "WILLIAMS' CASTLE GREYHAWK" for the Gyzaengaxx adventure. ? I don't know.

They were selling it pretty hard at GARY CON with a lot of emphasis on hundreds of dollars of value you get for just signing up and pledging, and how it was going to be a collector's item. The art and production values look slick but something about it just made me want to hold off and wait until it comes out and gets some reviews. I just didn't get what the concept was. I had the same red flag go up as you when I saw 'lampoony'...

My impression of the is Luke is not very involved in the production, the main author is using “Gygax” as a marketing strategy.
