A few days ago, I had bought a wooden coffer type box at a thrift store and yesterday I left it in a parking lot.
Went flying across the room. Thought it was a strange series of physical mistakes like an unknown string stuck to my leg. Then when I was restoring the 1800s style screws on the hinge the room darkened with movement. I put my hand on the lid and got that weird feeling. I walked it down to the garage then contemplated destruction. Went out threw it in the back seat. Left it in a parking lot.

Just wait until it mysteriously shows up in your garage again...
Did you at least take a photo or video of it?
That sounded like a pretty good short story synopsis.

I've always wanted direct proof of the supernatural but maybe it is a "sounds good until it happens to you" situation.

Yeah, I became totally rattled especially now with a 93 year old mother-in-law in the house. If I was in prime with zero kids then I would have experimented.
Honestly? I feel a lot calmer now that its gone.
Here is the time line: Bought it last week in at a Goodwill store. I had been to so many of these places in a row just grabbing and buying was my mentality. Not sure if it was Goodwill in Sanford or Salvation Army in Casselberry. Upon first appearance it looked like a humidor appearing box with ducks in a pond going around it. I got it home and was going to remove the sticker when I noticed a somewhat illegible signature on the bottom "J. P#########". Then I noticed the duck motif was a fresh wallpaper trim that didn't match and was sloppily glued on. I did a mental note to try and remove it to make it look less cheesy. Then I came in then thought about hiding it from the kids so they wouldn't ask if they could use it for themselves. Went upstairs put it on the shelf and noticed the wallpaper thing was sloppier than I thought.
In general, a lot of these Florida thrift stores are filled with items belonging to the recently deceased in large amounts because retirement to Florida is common.

Epilogue on this was that the primordial panic of having Grandma as a permanent houseguest was what ruined my resolve. Sometimes I have to jump in the car and leave her so anxiety levels are already up there. I have to come up with a protocol on the offhand that if something like this happens again then it needs some documentation. "Hey could you hold on to this severed hand for me for a few weeks?" Seriously, next time, I'm thinking of storing in the yard somewhere.
