Scott, we revived the tradition of Paint Night if you ever want to join us. It will be either every Wednesday or every other Wednesday at Bill & Walt's Hobby Shop in downtown Pittsburgh. We had our first Paint Night in a long time last night with Charles, Tom, Eric and myself. I'm glad we're doing this since it was one of my New Year's resolutions to paint at least once a week. I don't mind painting as much when I have people to talk to while doing it! Last night I worked on a catapult, a ballista, two ghouls and a beholder.
I was looking for the Gygaxian color scheme for the beholder but nothing is given in the MM. Then I remembered it was given in THE OFFICIAL AD&D COLORING ALBUM illustrated by Greg Irons and written by EGG: "An olive green sphere, this eye-tyrant is covered in enormously tough chitinous plates. Between these plates, cracks flush purplish-green, while highlighted areas glow yellow-green. The small eyestalks are a lighter olive, with disgusting pink sockets from which green and orange ringed eyes stare fixedly. A huge central eye stares balefully forth. Yellow-orange jagged teeth jut out from the pinkish mouth, ready to rend and engulf prey."

I have dead stopped painting miniatures. When I moved I had started a miniature area then some glue spilled and fumed up my old painting desk. So my daughter saw me moving the desk out then asked if she could have the desk. So was slowly rebuilding paint area with old junkie desks in the garage but then she moved her mom in with us and the garage is a mess. So the delay continues. Hopefully, I can get a similar ritual going.
