I've been experimenting with AI art and I seem to get the best results when it is based upon my own artwork or photographs with simple prompts. Some examples are below. The original titled "Chesterfield Bridge" (I painted this which was an exercise from PAINTING WITH THE WATERCOLOR MASTERS book and this was in the style of Cotman): Here is the AI version with the prompt on Starry AI being 'watercolor': The original I titled "Roman Villa at Byzacena (original watercolor painted by me from a reference photo out of one of my history books): Here is the AI version with the prompt of 'watercolor' on Starry AI: Here is an interesting variant the AI did, by shifting the angle and changing the structure of the columns:

Its too "genie-like" in its replies. Especially when you expect a certain result. For example. It gives you a nightmare version of yourself if you use your photo as a basis. I asked for a photorealistic version of the Broken castle cover and its a picture of a photo of a dog with a white stripe on its head on an easel in a forest,

I had some of the worst results with prompts of 'photorealism.' By applying that prompt to an acrylic painting with fantasy subjects and some semi-abstract forms, you are confusing it. It is trying to interpret your painting's elements into things from the real world. I think that is why it interpreted the silhouettes of the two sides of the broken castle as boars(?) and the humanoids as children in one of the outputs. If you try other prompts like 'acrylic painting' or 'fantasy ruins' you might get much better results, although it may also stray further from your original painting's appearance. What fascinates me is that the AI is taking 2D images and is doing 3D modeling to create variations. For example, it is changing the points of view on both the bridge and the ruins. It's recognizing them as 3D objects and producing variants seen from different angles. That's pretty amazing. Here are a few more examples from my own art: The original is a watercolor I did titled "Western Barn": The AI produced a very similar variation: The original is a watercolor I painted titled "English Countryside": The AI produced a similar variation:

Here's a photo of a barn near my house which I often walk by or ride my bike by: Here is the AI produced painting with a prompt of 'In the style of Van Gogh': Here is a photo I took in Venice: Here is the AI produced painting with a prompt of 'In the style of Monet': Here is a photo I took one day on a bike ride: Here is the AI produced painting with the prompt 'In the style of Emily Carr': Here is another photo I took one day on a bike ride: Here is the AI produced painting with the prompts 'watercolor' and 'sunlight shining through the trees':

AI art has enormous potential but there is a lot we're going to have to work through such as properly crediting original artists. All AI can do now is imitate. Arguably, that is how all human artists learn and start out. But the AI does it mindlessly without any sense of aesthetic relating to what it's own style or strengths of design might be. Right now it is merely the "standing on the shoulders of giants" effect we are seeing, which can be awfully impressive due to how rapidly the AI can churn out variations. But fundamentally it's just an assembly line with randomized effects. So, playing with it to get something truly good is like the long search for the valuable thing at the bottom of a garbage heap.

Right now it's like things recalled while on acid where similar things blur into one another. The AI music the greedy are trying to reign in so it's only in in midi form right now. I had to slow it down to make it sound less blah.
