I have an old wooden box that I inherited from my dad that has paladin's card in it. I was just looking at it about 2 hours ago. Weird.

Jim Ward - somewhere had some blurb like "Have computer, will travel". Not sure what that means. Sound like a computer consultant's card. Hmm, might be interesting to have a hireling in a game and call him Paladin. Gun for hire. Actually, a good idea to have a helping hand like that when exploring Castle Zagyg.

BTW, I saw Starship in the 80's and Grace did "White Rabbit" and "Somebody To Love", and she sounded dead on to the 60's! My hair literally stood up on my neck 'cause it felt like I'd jumped in a time machine!

Remember: the seventh bullet's for evil! ^__^ Hmm, can't remember any lore. Was it silver. Me, I've been researching the Green Hornet DVDs the last few days. It seems they did a movie thing back a while. And so, the original TV shows have not made it to DVD. Anywho, I sure loved Richard Boone in Hombre!! They just don't make movies like that anymore. Chock full of excellent stars and great scenarios . . . classic Hollywood is dead. But we are lucky to be able to collect and view all the great movies!!!

Hollywood today seems to be about making (bad) re-makes of old movies and TV shows and largely relying on effects or cheap references rather than good content. There, I've said it and I'm glad! ^__^

I was just looking up that box and I don't see any refeence to it on the web at all.
Boone's best role in my opinion?
Smaug!
Thats the most memorable thing about that cartoon next to John Huston's Gandalf.

My hair literally stood up on my neck 'cause it felt like I'd jumped in a time machine! We avoided Airplane in the late 60s and early 70s due to their reputation for awful drugged out performances. But now I'm sorry I didn't go see them. Had a chance to see Starship in the late 70s, but there were so many other great concerts to go too. Only so much cash . . .

The multiple versions of Murlynd could be from alternate dimensions and/or timelines. The quasi-deity version sort of reminds me of Stephen King's "Gunslinger" Roland... Actually there's three versions---the one in Dragon 71 is substantially different from the other two as well.... I just compared the version from DRAGON 71 to the version in the Glossography in the boxed set, and I don't see any substantial difference between them. What are the differences, Allan?

It's funny to see this thread resurrected. I've been reading up on Murlynd lately. Gavin watches Critical Role occasionally, and he's asked about becoming a gunslinger. I've thought about introducing Murlynd and having him act as a mentor.

I'll have to go back and look, Gary, but I think I meant to refer back to the EX2 version as substantially different vs. the Dragon/Glassography versions. He's just a straight 18+ MU in EX2 IIRC, without the paladin class, etc. Allan.

The three you're referring to
1) Dragon 71/WOG box version
2) EX series version
3) Gord Novel COME ENDLESS DARKNESS (1988) version "Murlon":
There is another reference of him within the group in Chapter 20 but he only chimes in briefly later:

Thanks for the novel context, Gene, but I'm pretty sure that I had been thinking that there were differences between the three sets of stats, at the time. Pulling up EX2, the Glassography, and Dragon71, other than the obvious differences between Dragon 71/Glassography vs. EX2, I don't see any differences in the data presented in Dragon vs. Glassography.
Rob did publish some materials on Don Kaye and Murlynd in his DVD archive which may be worth mining WRT Murlynd: the Murlynd's Castle entry, which looks like it mentions a possible Soapbox article not detailed in that section: "Merlynd and Company Against the Evil High Priest (an original Castle Greyhawk Tale as DM'd by Rob Kuntz)".
Allan.

Safe to assume that Lord Donal, Verenable Yocasta, and Venerable Nastan in that quote = Daern, Johydee, and either Nolzur or Quaal from the Dragon #71 list of "inactive" quasi-deities?

Thats what I said but Gary shot me down and said that some were and some weren't. The four from the magazine/Glossography definitely (Murlynd, Keoghtom, Kelanen and Heward) are there though.
The others its beyond me so until someone spills the beans I guess just assume they are.
Another level of the novels is the statement that he made that the whole thing was done at a bad time and they weren't intended to be just stand alone stories. Even the GREYHAWK ADVENTURES novels SAGA and ARTIFACT should have had related products but because of the circumstance (The 1985 demise of the D&D continuity as a product.)
Gary said something like "we can do this all day but its not worth hide nor hair" or something like that.
So for example, I can imagine the never was product SHADOWLAND related to the CITY OF HAWKS novel which might have originally been called GREYHAWK ADVENTURES: SHADOWLAND. And the novel COME ENDLESS DARKNESS I bet would have used "THE ABYSS" in its title and would have featured the quasi-deity characters in a related module in some regard.
Assuming that Tharizdun is defeated at some point in an actual adventure. I think one of the adventures would feature the quasi-deities and then had rules on how to make your own. He definitely did say the quasi-deity player character was happening so thats probably what the form.
But you would also have to assume a completely different T1-4 (CHOKE) which is a big pill to swallow.
