I just got a letter saying I might have to go to jail for doing 85-90 mph in Virginia. NICE!

Yeah, anything over 80 mph in Virginia is considered "reckless driving" and has a higher penalty. It's extreme, and that's why I always use cruise control between Richmond and Washington going back and forth to my sister's place in Raleigh. On Interstate 95 everybody speeds, and that's where they catch you. Revenge of the Confederacy against Yankee tourists?

It was western Virginia near West Virginia. Some VA plated tailgater was on me for ten miles and I went around a truck going 85 in a 75 so it was definitely zilch. I had PA plates so there something going on there? The cop told me I can have a lawyer stand in, which I thought was erratic (he drunk?) then I get this crazy letter from a lawyer detailing what this is. Jail for reckless driving unless reduced to improper driving or speeding ticket. Hinting chain gang. In NY, I always get the steepest fine so...

Yeah, it's a racket. There are "towns" that are nothing more than 2 mile stretches of road with crazy speed traps and lawyer scams.
