I've been looking into going to "Gary Con" it seems like all the immediate hotels are booked solid for those days.

Well, I got my badge. I'm going on Wednesday and leaving Sunday. Hopefully, no one will want to have an honor duel...

Scott, what do you think of GaryCon 2020 this year? Road trip?

Ernie said he has 4 game sessions but I told him that my con player days are probably best left behind.
So I'm going to run something on the fly with no schedule. Being nailed down to a game kind of sucks so I'm keeping it short.
He also said they have a Gygax family session that talks about growing up in the house that made D&D or something like that. I told him I would definitely go if it was not standing room only as I can't do standing in the back anymore. I did it for Stan Lee 10 years ago and it was an ordeal.

Ever since I got the badge, I've been having insomnia. I had a nightmare last night that I was running an add-on for BROKEN CASTLE at the con but it was in a food court from the 80's and everyone was wearing suits. Woke up couldn't sleep after that. Anyway in the dream the add-on had a name and a map. So I'll have to integrate that. Its a message.

Yes, Allan, I'm seriously thinking of going -- whether Scott can go or not. I'm getting together with some gamer friends tonight, and I'll float the idea to them although it is unlikely any of them will be able to, either (busy with families, work, lack of money, etc.). Maybe I will hit up my cousin who went with me to NecronomiCon last summer! He just might be up for it... I've been kicking myself for never getting out to Lake Geneva, and I have no excuse not to go.

Great to hear Gary! Keep me posted (and I've still never made it to NecronomiCon, alas....).
Allan.

I just went down the rabbit hole of Lake Geneva hotels... Any recommendations? Where are you guys staying? I want a place with a microwave and fridge, and a stove top would be great.

I'm staying lakeside at the Harbor Shores on Lake Geneva. I'm not sure if its any good though but it seemed alright.

Harbor Shores is one of the places I was considering. The other was Seven Oaks Bed & Breakfast.
And I just noticed the Cove has a full kitchen... I'm not really into restaurant food for four or five days.

In the 2007 Lake Geneva Convention, the Cove restaurant was okay but what do I know?
The hotel arced around and the con was on the opposite end of the restaurant.
I never went inside the hotel rooms.
It seemed like a bit of a throwback but well kept.

I am not sure of the name of the hotel that me and Bill stayed in or if its still there. It was behind Harbor Shores somewhere and I think Allan (Grodog) was at the same place but a separate building.

After researching package deals all day, I'm ready to pull the trigger, but I'm just waiting to hear back from some possible 'adventuring companions'... Still trying to get the party together! Priceline has the best deal. Even if I go by myself, it looks like I can do flight, hotel and rental car for about $1100 total for 5 days if I stay at the Cove. And that would be fine.

Yep, that's the time frame I'm looking at -- arrive Wednesday afternoon, fly out Monday afternoon... Direct flights to and from O'hare.

The dates conflict with a possible trip to Florida to visit family. That’s not se5 yet, but it doesn’t look good.

That’s not se5 yet, but it doesn’t look good. I thought it was code for a minute. Breaking Bad Season 5 train robbery?
