My uncle had a collection with anything worth anything in the comic's Golden Age and it was used to start fires with by mistake while he was away overseas in the service.
OUCH!
I had to hear that story a million times.

I forgot to mention that along with the comic collection was a sci-fi/fantasy pulp magazine collection that went with it. The Astounding/Analog collection actually made it to my lifetime (I seen them myself) but either somebody took it for themselves or it was burned. He also had copies of the relevant Cthulhu mythos Weird Tales issues amongst other sundry periodicals of that era. However I never even seen those. They were long gone. I think they may have been lifted by another relative rather than burned.
