I thought of this yesterday when I was asked by the guys where Gary was going to be buried.
I mean it was driven by the idea to make it convenient for Gary. Do you think it'll still happen?

As of now, I'd say there will be at least one more, as a farewell to Gary by some of his closest associates if for no other reaso. After that, who knows.

Bill was horrified when I told him. He wants to go and he wants to put his favorite set of dice on Gary's grave. I said he should spark up one of his umpteenth copies of B2 that he's picked up at yard sales over the years and smoke it. That got him out of the funk. If they're not going to have it I'd like to go for the hell of it.

They're talking about his legacy over there and what his family will do with it. I wonder what they are referring to? Castle Zagyg? I wasn't even thinking along those lines. That might be a big factor too in continuance with using his name, etc. I hope they announce something soon.
I don't think I can ever go to GenCon again. We might have to make our own "con" if things don't pan out.

Remember a year or two before the first LGGC when you, GT and me were talking about having a small scale con in Lake Geneva?

Hooo boy. The timeline on that is a muddle. He got real dodgy at the time.
From what I gathered from my e-mails to him at the time, I had just cancelled my C&C signup over being antagonized by people associated with that game company and an affiliated game company. Prior to that I'm saying how this game system forum development idea isn't working with the group development plan as they're not responding intelligently. Geez, I'm saying this and he seems completely unaware in the response. He seems like he didn't care as its just "a way of getting it done". So he took their side as a default by saying he didn't like my tone which I didn't even respond to.
I can't know exactly what he was thinking but I think that he was pissed that I might have been driving off his bank of new customers with my "make it Gary's way" bullshit all the time.
So I can't really blame him for nixing the porch game idea, suggesting the library and then saying maybe he might make it there.
I should have just shut my mouth. But if I had done that in the first place I wouldn't have still been playing D&D.

Omigod, I remember now. Someone belligerently was hinting that he was a jailbird on my forum late one night. Oh shit, I totally forgot that. And I spoke with him after that! Oh shit! You can't make this shit up!

Its killing me!

Actually, I think it was the first year. Dec of 04 I think GT and I started talking about it, and LGGC I was in the spring/summer of 05. I wonder if someone stole our idea?

Yeah, but Gary was involved on both counts with the con and the new game so he might have insisted.

I will be at LGGC IV, and in honor of Gary Gygax I will DM Castle Zagyg for anyone who wants to participate. I will not let Gary down. Gary has provided me all the tools to see this project through. I'll need the support and encouragement of fellows like you to succeed, because without fellows like you, it is all for nothing. We must carry the torch of Gygaxian gaming.

I'm losing the urge fast.
I posted about the con some time ago on the official con forum and the reaction to the fact that I was going seemed lackluster.
The guys that I was going with just wanted to meet Gary and weren't even going to check out the con.
Theres probably going to be a heavier volume of those that are the "antithesis of Gene".
Kuntz probably is going to flip on me or at least make things awkward.
I e-mailed the bogus "reenacted Chainmail" game guy (whatever his name is) and I never got a reply. So there most likely isn't going to be a bogus "reenacted Chainmail" game.
So that leaves what?
A four second toast to Gary in the bar?
Not a good reason to go halfway across America.
Anybody else want to take a shot at convincing me?

Anybody else want to take a shot at convincing me? OK youse. Listen up. I like you see, so ~ to use yer expression: SHADDAPPPPP! Gene, my friend, I'll say to you the same thing I say to my daughter and secret girlfriend from back in the day "The world doesn't revolve around you!" Your post at TLG didn't get replied to because no one knows your there (with a few exceptions ~ Peter, Senor Ghul, me and about 99% of the membership of my secret sub group (I told them all to ignore you!!) Just kidding!! ;D Next: Hey, of course Gary is the big drawing card, there are still so many reasons to go. Gaming with friends and ex TSR peeps who are some of the nicest people I've met is huge. I saw your mention of Jim Ward on your site and really didn't understand what you were talking about. But that could be me and my lack of knowledge of alll things TSR. I can only say that Jim is one of the nicest and most interesting TSR dudes that I've met. His maner o f speaking and gaming is astonishing. He has a way with speaking and words that I don't think I've ever encountered before. I simply cannot begin to categorize it or explain it. Anywho, gaming with Jim, Tom Wham and Gary in their Dragon Lairds game was absolutely fabulous. I understand from Jim and Tom that the game has been released from Margaret Weis productions. Next - Rob: Any "flip" or awkwardness from Rob is solely your doing. Rob reached out to you in that post of yours. But, I don't think Rob will be that concerned about your attendance. He's going to concentrate on healing and getting back to health, so he can get to the CON and run a game. Next - Paul: Paul didn't answer my email either from last year. Some peeps are not good about this, so don't take it personally. He did say he was going to present his "Moat" again at LGGC IV. Gene, I'd really like to see you go to the CON and hang out with all of us and keep an open mind. Play in Senor Ghul's game or try C&C or play with Frank, etc., etc., etc!! If you admire and love Gary like we all do, go to the CON and just enjoy it and have fun. I'm hoping some of the old TSR people that were at the funeral will drop by. Gail said she will do so. I think Gary would want to attend as well. Just lose the self aggrandizement and focus of YOU and bask in the light and enjoyment of our dearly departed friend. With respect and friendship, Ross/Rhuvein. ;D

If you feel you need convinced, you probably shouldn't go. I want to go. I'm going to try very hard to make it. I'm very sorry that Gary won't be there, but I'm looking forward to being around many of those who were close to Gary, celebrating his memory with them by sharing stories and gaming. I know there will be people there who I'm not fond of, but they're not the ones I'll be hanging out with.
