I just saw both of these movies over the weekend, and enjoyed them. I didn't think they were nearly as bad as the critics made them out to be.
I guess I'm not surprised that critics don't like these DC movies, but what is surprising is that critics like any superhero movies at all -- or some better than others.
When I was growing up, critics looked down their noses at anything superhero, sf, fantasy, horror, etc.
I don't buy into the "Rotten Tomatoes anti-DC conspiracy theory" but it is kind of weird that the Marvel movies get such better reviews when in my mind they are kind of all in that same bucket of what old-school critics thought of as juvenile garbage.
Well, whatever -- I'm just glad these movies got made. It's a golden age for me!

I didn't see DoJ, but I did see Suicide Squad. I was disappointed. I remember reading an article after the filming had been completed that they were going back in to add more comedy because they thought it was too dark. I took that as a bad sign. And there were scenes in the movie that just hit bad notes tone-wise. I did like it, just not as much as I expected.

SS is a direct sequel to DoJ so I thought it played out better watching them back to back. It finally felt like I was watching a DC Universe with shared continuity.
I also heard about the re-shoots and I'll admit the editing in SS was a weak point. But I thought the humor was about right. That's not to say I wouldn't enjoy a darker more serious version, but I enjoyed the theatrical release for what it was.
I've always been more of a Marvel fan but I'm rooting for DC to do well also. I feel like they're moving in the right direction.

I finally watched SUICIDE SQUAD (2016) on a lark. It wasn't as bad as the kids made it out to be. I knew Will Smith would be terrible as he is in everything (This shit is easy, etc) so I think my forgiveness level was high. The kids were making it out like Leto was a nightmare for years. I can't believe that he actually wasn't that bad. I think Killer Croc needed more attention as the actor came across like a kid in a Party City costume. The Joker girl, I'm not a fan of, seemed alright.
