I was going to watch AS ABOVE SO BELOW (2014) a while back but all the holiday crap burned me out. It actually is set in modern times but it has a weird dungeon-style atmosphere with traps, tricks, magic and demonic creepiness. It still has the "found footage" wonk that many hate and with no spoilers it doesn't pass my true horror ranking but it might be described as creepy adventure.so in that light its enjoyable.

I forgot all about this post. I meant to check it out. It's on Netflix. Maybe I'll watch it tonight.

I've always wanted to know more about the Catacombs of Paris. They are real. I wonder how much of them is shown in this movie? The Crypt of the Sepulchral Lamp looks like it would be right at home in Dorakaa, or a Shrine of Orcus.

They show you the guided tour area briefly then it "goes off the grid" to unknown parts that collapsed but these locals know of openings and have kept it secret.

I pulled up Netflix, planning on watching this, but ended up watching Kolchak episodes until I fell asleep. I'll have to try again soon. It's categorized as 'adventure' which fits your "it doesn't pass my true horror ranking" comment.

Yeah, I forgot to say it might get kids upset for sure especially if you have to explain its not real and why everything is happening. So in that regard its definitely a "keep the kids up all night" type movie rather than something labeled "adventure".
