What's the highest anybody has made it up the 'fight to level' hierarchy in these classes? I've never made it high enough to have to fight. I have a 7th level monk who will have to fight at the next level, but he hasn't had a DM in a long time, so he's stuck in Superior Master Limbo for the foreseeable future.

I've never, ever played a druid in my life for some reason. My one monk and one assassin character both reached level 7 and neither have been in action since the mid-eighties. Since I mostly DM these days no character can look forward to any advancement.

So you're in the same boat I'm in. My monk's been at level 7 for years. I've never got a druid or assassin past level 3, or so.

I had a monk who made it to 8th level, in Eric's game. I had to defeat the current Master of Dragons. Eric did the battle justice.
Also -- In earlier levels, Eric gave my monk a special mentor and a solo adventure, in which my character got something analogous to Iron Fist's spirit dragon tattoo -- it enabled him to hit creatures that could only be hit with magical weapons with his weaponless attacks.

I might have to make you DM for a while when the party gets in that level range so I can finally get my monk to level 8.

Not me but I've come pretty close in assassin (12th level) but I capped off. He's a UA duergar.
I've DMed it however and the druid is the only one that seems like it could have deserved more from the new classes that never surfaced.

I have a monk in my campaign. I’m too lazy to look up what level he is exactly, but IIRC he has won two leveling fights and lost once. I suppose to keep it fair I should also have other monks come out of the blue to challenge him so they can level.

I suppose to keep it fair I should also have other monks come out of the blue to challenge him so they can level. Yes, true but these days its unlikely for me as those characters rarely got dusted off in the last decade... ....it might discourage them! In regards to what I said about the druid, I meant the the lost high level options that were ina ddition to the DRAGON magazine/UA high level options that were supposed to appear snugged in with the Mystic and Savant classes, etc. The Deep Druids came up when I discussed Saint Trowbane's "world" with Gary as contemporaries of his clergy. That and other "true second edition" synchs forever lost...

I don't have any players that are patient enough to play a monk. I have a few druids, and I'm looking forward to them having to battle, hopefully each other at some point. I haven't really had anybody get an assassin very far off the ground.

You know I had a dead druid but I can't find the dead character files. I forgot what level he reached but he lasted from the mid-80's to the mid-90's. Every time that I went to make a monk I had ended up making a ninja. I have around 3 or 4 of them. One of the ninja characters was from ORIENTAL ADVENTURES and never played because I was the only DM interested in running that material. But the other two (3?) were: One looks like its derived from the"THE NINJA" from DRA 16 (JUL 1978) and "THE NEW IMPROVED NINJA" DRA #30 (OCT1979) and the other is some homemade job based on the fighter class and what seems to be obviously referencing "ENTER THE NINJA" with Sho Kosugi. I do remember a third non-OA one that was based on some kid's homemade class of ninjas but I can't find it. My brother was into monks so thats why the obvious reluctance on my part... NINJA!!!

Seikura!!! I have a monk that I like to play, but he hasn't had a DM since right before he had to fight to level for the first time.
