Here's one... how do you guys figure magic item prices for magic items not listed? I have a crude system that involves comparing an item with a similar item, and then valuing any additional powers by their merit. So for example, a +1 sword that allows its user to levitate is worth 2500 gp (price of a +1 sword plus 500 gp for a minor power).

I don't have a system. Just compare and estimate.

In comparing prices with swords, theres a glitch there with the "luck blade". Its value is way less than if you just had a ring of 3 wishes.
I believe the wish price hike was probably last minute like that "obsession/possesion by demons/devils" part of the game that was removed at the last minute and left all these anti-demonic possesion remnants. So thats another big question for your campaign.

I play the Luck Blade as a base 5000 gp plus an additional 5000 gp/each wish above the first. And the value decreases as the wishes are used... ^__^

Hmmm... I never thought about the demon/devil possession, but I reckon they could "magic jar" a PC couldn't they?

Gary explained it that it was thrown at the last minute and let the leftovers stand. You could hobble together a devil possesing someone by different means accessories in the case of a demon lord an amulet's magic jar but that reference in protection from possession:
That specifically was called obsession and he described it as a power of concentration wearing down the victim until they were under control over time with saves. And from what I gathered it wasn't going over that well and it was cut and that line should have been removed.

I suppose that you could justify that line as pertaining to the manner in which a night hag wears down its victim, and therefore the scroll would protect against that attack...

Theres an article about possession in D&D in TD #20(1978) but its woefully not very official sounding and has a bit of a "clunk" to it. It has nice Tramp pics though.

Perhaps because it's easier to hide a ring up your sleeve, rather than a sword? But it's a fair point. I have no answer, as I never encountered a Luck Blade in any campaign.
