Well, he did originally insinuate that Iuz was a "byblow" of Orcus; but we work with what we git--er, got! ^__^

It is hard to combine Iuz' and Iggwilv's backstories but it's not impossible. The easiest part is shrinking Iuz' timeline to fit Iggwilv. Iuz is considered Old and ancient in 576 CY, that could essentially mean anything considering the short lifespan of humans in the Flanaess. If Iuz was conceived say within 100 years before Iggwilv's usurping of Perrenland that would make him about 200 years old - ancient enough for most humans!! Especially if Iuz started out acting as a human.
As I've said before I am wary of making Iuz too old since it is noted that Iuz' might grows around the time of the Perrenland takeover. Even if Iuz is CE and a bit of a failure he should be able to make a greater impact in 5-10 centuries than seems evident. So, IMO the easiest solution is having "ancient" mean very little. It is far harder to reconcile the imprisonment below CG with the establishment of the ToEE.

My theory on that is that Iuz and Zuggtmoy concieved the plan in the late 490s. They'd forged the Skull, and were just getting ready to put things in potion when Iuz got taken by Zagyg. Iuz had the Orb in a hidden location that Zuggtmoy was not aware of. Without Iuz and the Skull, Zuggtmoy abandoned the plan. In the 560s Zuggtmoy's agents recovered the Orb, and she decided to proceed with the plan solo.

Gary told Paul that Zagyg imrisoned the Nine because "he could", but an idea in the back of his mind was that the various deities had either requested favors or crossed Zagyg in some way. I would guess that Iuz fell into that latter category. Of course, originally, he simply needed deities of nine different alignments to be waiting as statues so Robilar could get into trouble! ^__^

In his earler commentaries on The Battle of Emridy Meadows in the Dragon and Greyhawk Gazeteer, Gary mentions the terrible demon Zuggtmoy being sealed under the Temple, but nothing of Iuz, so the cambion wasn't to be found at that time.
