Not yesterday, but it seems true today as the reports are coming in from many sources.
I enjoyed our few post exchanges on the OD&D forum. Twas interesting to hear his perspective and insights to the origins of D&D.
I'll see my cousin in Valhalla someday!

Ya know, I actually met the guy and talked with him at Indy Gen Con(Gary was right there talking with him, too!) and he seemed OK. I think Gary and he had gotten over the issues of the past, as they were laughing and reminiscing over the "early days" (something I find myself doing increasingly! ^__^). Gary was the Primus in my book, but you gotta hand some credit to Dave as well, and hopefully in some alternate universe, the two of them are designing the "ultimate AD&D adventure", complete with illustrations from Dave Sutherland! (1E, of course! ^__^) GT (agnostic, yet spirutual nonetheless!)

I used to talk to Dave a lot online. He was always very cool. Told me a few old school stories, never mentioned anything negative. Ernie was not fond of him. Tim Kask really blasted him. Rob said his contributions to the rule set were minimal, but the comment was in regards to written material he submitted. I sort of lost respect for him at a GenCon when I saw him at an autograph booth charging $10.00 for an autograph. A guy and his young kid came up, and Dave didn’t even look at them until they paid his ‘assistant’ the money. After they paid, he signed a picture, but didn’t give them as much as a ‘hello’.

That was when I stood behind Rob and as Dave was talking I kept remembering the beginning of DA1 ("3000 years before any other roleplaying game material") and I imagined him singing what I now call the "Arneson Song"... Geez, it doesn't seem so funny now... Give it a few weeks...
