OK, so Curley Greenleaf was a "Druid Ranger"... How was this permissable? Was there ever anything in the PH , DMG or UA that allowed a merger between (must be Neutral) Druid and (must be Good) Ranger? The only thing that I could find was the "Character Race Table III" addenda from the UA additions and corrections article on pg. 49 of the Nov. 1985 issue of the Dragon. It's almost as if it was added to justify Curley...

The same thing that justifies magic-users wearing armor and using swords as fighter/magic-users. Multi-class characters aren't fighters & magic-users or druids and rangers; their fighter/magic-users or druid/rangers. Classes unto themselves with thier own sets of guidelines. A druid must be neutral. A ranger must be good. A druid/ranger must be neutral good.

Frank Mentzer justified the class combo in a Dragon issue somewhere in the range of issues 90 - 105 if you look it up. I have allowed it myself in the past, and it's not bad. Alignment is neutral/neutral good for the combo when I've DMed it.

That was a big issue when that came out everybody wanted the new sexy druid...except me. I made one druid character and never made another except as NPCs.
I recall a recurring pseudo-memory of thinking there was game information at the end of SOOC for the druid-ranger whenever it came up and I had to dig it out everytime to find nothing.
