We've touched on these before--apparently, these are the heavy hitters in Acheron, and Hafdoligor is the baddest. So, in view of the fact that we will probably never learn of Gary's version with any exactitude, how do you guys view them? I envision them as tall Nazgul-looking things with necromantic powers (Cleric? M-U? Both?) As they command hordes of maelvis and skeletons/zombies, I see them as armored and probably mounted on Nightmares. I'm preparing to send four or five of my "old-school" players there, so I was curious...

I've never considered it. I'd have to think about it for a bit.

Well, I actually considered this back last February too, but it didn't get very far... ^__^

Acheron has never come up in my campaign. The Abyss, the Hells, and Hades get all the attention. Tarterus and Gehenna are of lesser interest, but Acheron and Pandemonium have been kicked to the curb.

Sadly, true--which is why I want to send my higher level PC's there. Woodstock and a couple of others have been to Avernus (first level of Hell) and Q1 in the Abyss, as well as a few Astral/Ethereal jaunts; but not much else... I was thinking they may have gone to Hades once, too, but I can't find any old material to verify that--might've been a planned adventure!

I said I had him as a jazzed up skeleton with demon lord stats but I never really put more than that into it.
I think I need to overhaul those old gord notes that i transcribed at some point but I really don't want to do it anytime in the near future. I have all the original Gary dialogues from my old work e-mail printed up in an accordion folder with everything from that Greyhawk website. Along with the Gord notes in a Jurassic Park notebook. I used to make notebooks to pass around at the table that had lists like gods and monsters by alignment but they have a lot of 2e material attached to the bottom that adds a lot of white noise.
I should make a film going through my D&D stuff so you can see where I'm coming from. I'll probably spend the majority on my favorite miniatures...

I've been working on filling in the Inner/Outer Planes for my campaign for almost 25 years now (my first couple of letters to Gary were over just that!)--a bit from Gar-Bear here, a bit from Steve (Marsh) there... but the picture has remained tantalizingly incomplete. OK; I've got it about 855 to 90% figured out at this point, but still!! ^__^
