Greyhawk has a mages guild, or something similar correct? Isn’t one of the oligarchs involved somehow?

Yes, the Society of the Magi as of the novels (in particular NIGHT ARRANT 1987) was headed by a "Magistar" then an ancient archmage known only as Darksign...
We had quite a discussion about him...but it was only regarding that Gord #0 story which had many potentials disregarded.

Any ideas of what their building looks like? Where would a magic-user scribe scrolls if he was living in an inn? As a member he should have some access to a private area where such activity could be accomplished?

It wasn't elaborated.
Some campaigns have private rooms everywhere but an inn in the middle of a highway? I don't know.

What I meant was, where would a magic-user living in an inn in Greyhawk go to scribe scrolls. His room wouldn't work, so could a member use space at the Society's facility for scroll writing, potion brewing, research, experimenting, etc.

I would say that if the M-U wasa due-paying guild member, there would be a place complete with the best-priced materials available at the Guild Hall; but maybe they would have to pay to use an Alchemist facility for potion-brewing of any complexity.

Clerksburg, I'm sure would have adequate scribing facilities with all the libraries around.
