Read this and thought I'd share it.
A 38-year-old man was cited for disorderly conduct in Fond du Lac, Wis., in September after he bought a beer for his sons, ages 2 and 4, at the county fair. He could not be cited for providing alcohol to minors because, under Wisconsin law, parents are exempt, but he was written up for swearing at police. [Post Crescent (Appleton, Wis.), 9-24-08]
Parents are exempt? You know it's a beer drinking state.

Thats weird but very questionable as to the circumstance that led to the incident.

And they say California is weird? I'm surprised CPS didn't get involved. Then again considering the absolute incompetency of that agency regardless of state I'm not..
I would have slammed the idiot on the ground, violated every civil right I could think of and then put him in a holding cell nekkid with Leroy the offender... Ahhh the sweet smell of police brutality...

My philosophy is partially summed up by a t-shirt I saw: Alcohol Tobacco & Firearms ...should be a "convenience store", not a "government agency"! (Gary was with me on that, if anybody cares!) ^__^

Of course, as an outsider, I could draw on foreign interpretations of american culture and give you this:- In some parts of the South, wouldn't he have been arrested for not buying them beer? Yes, I'm running away even as I hit "enter"...

You're talking to a Yankee crowd, for the most part.

Is Wisconsin a part of Sweden? Or is it Norway? Heh, both maybe. Wisconsin and Minnesota have good sized populations of Scandinavian immigrants. I have Swedish and Norwegian relatives in both states.

Perhaps an old law or maybe at one time, it was assumed that parents wouldn't feed young children alcohol. Of course, on the other hand, many laws are written for the very few who would do stupids things like that. Hopefully, that law is getting looked at - as many do when these situations come up and the press get a hold of the story.
