I had a 2 hour chat session with an old player last night (the one who has his gf attached at the hip) and he said we have to hang out, I mentioned the game Saturday. The silence was a deafening,"YES!!! BUT I CAN'T!!!"
Classic!

Well, it seems a game will happen today if all goes well.. This time there will be a player cam and DM cam to get the play by play action. I was thinking of interjecting it with pre-game or post-game commentary. Wow! It sounds so organized! Yeah, right!

OWW!!!! I didn't partake until the wee hours and then when I did, I did rapidly....kabbooom. Thank goodness, I think that I forgot what a dice was for at one point! Some of the best laughs weren't recorded on video but I think were reiterated later. Its all a blur now. Upstairs there was a family gathering of women and they kept coming down and throwing a wrench in the gears.

Yesterday, I had little sleep so...lets see. Established the characters and what they've been up to. Several bands rallied to Henry's flag in the west after his notability in destroying the scourge of the seaways some time ago. Taylor was focused on reiterating how much spell research he's been doing in the off time with this charcter which yielded nothing but a dialogue over how warped his illusionist's history is having gone through several conversions. Bill established a new command within his company regarding cavalry and engineers. There was a meeting of the new council of which the other two were excluded and all they came up with was that gateway to a lost dwarf city was active and it shouldn't be. They had two ways to go: A) investigate the city or B) investigate a country that doesn't seem to be making any political noise at all ever. The "city" (A) was an original adventure in a Moria-like setting so there was a lot of connotation feeling that wasn't intentional by both me and them. The "country" (B) which if they cruised through the dwarf city (A) could be used to supplement the game with more action but it never happened. Part One was army maneuvers redistributing and establishing command of a break off force to escort them to the location of the secret entrance to the lost city (A). They were expecting retribution of the army of the three-eyed skull which didn't happen to their knowledge, They were a little suspicious of that country (B) the whole time but again.... nothing happened to their knowledge. So they had all these soldiers expecting a major battle. After the descent to the forgotten dwarf road which was huge in construction they tried to make a second break off force to join them but with no cavalry, no engineers, no giants, etc.. they ended up with archery and foot soldiers joining them with some captains and lieutenants on the march to the underground city. They encountered several giant spiders but the spiders avoided them but tried to pull off stragglers. The gate was guarded by 20 dwarves who turned out to be severely modified by a magical curse and were almost totally indestructible. After that melee, the foot soldiers seemed pretty useless. They encountered several unknown monsters that were trying to communicate with them but there was a difference of opinion on what their purpose was and the players with the means to "talk" didn't believe they were friendly. Later a captain that was sent back for reinforcements encountered another giant monstrous humanoid that tried to communicate but instead scared the captain off. They then encountered some hardcore superior versions of the cursed dwarves but they threw everything but the kitchen sink at them and discovered their Achille's heel before they were in range to "curse" them as well. Then another cursed band of the "lesser curse" but composed of physically powerful unknown creatures lost their main ability in the first, etc. Curse victims. Overgrown blobs. Curse victims. Overgrown blobs. Etc. The best was that they had all this backup the entire time except when they found out there wasn't any treasure anywhere and got the inkling that it was hoarded to keep it from being eaten. Once they got hold of an ancient remnant dwarf survivor they were all sure to not mention treasure but kept asking very politely in a roundabout way. Classic. Then all of a sudden they were brave enough to leave the safety of the expeditionary force with just their characters as they narrowed the trail to the vast pile. The best was Henry and Bill trying to chum it up with a lich in the manner they rolled over the other dwarf. Ouch! They made it back the gatehouse castle with the vast hoard and then proceeded to the location of where the cursed beings are sourced from before their cycle started again and fought several new and as yet unseen super blobs. The army was held back and they confronted the yet unseen superblob in the castle. The curse was undone and the various denizens collected from a thousand years of cursing creatures started a battle royale along old enemy lines several new and yet unseen denizens were briefly noted amongst duergars, derros, troglodytes, goblins, orcs, hobgoblins, trolls, etc. When the battle was over the ancient king was located who explained the nature of the curse but they didn't stay around for rewards instead they decided to get the hell out of there before he realized they had stolen all the dwarven riches. They were told of the location of a secret door that led up to upper world so they wouldn't have to go back east. They found out that they were actually going NW instead of W the entire time and the entrance is in Grok's territory near his famous but yet unseen cave. The epilogue had Henry starting demolition of the steading of the hill giant chief and start construction of a super fortress over the dungeons which he also wants to begin excavation of the complex that the lost temple was part of. But I told him thats going to have to wait. The filming skirts the dynamic encounter resolutions because my wife absconded with the DM cam to take pictures of the all girl party upstairs. DAMMIT! However me and Henry watched it all strung together last night and its a riot.

Those are good levels. I have several players with PCs closing in on level 10, but I put those guys on hold to try to run the CZ: UW stuff. Maybe I'll switch back and just bring the newbies in somehow.

I was thinking of giving them new characters as a surprise and tackling the phantom castle outside the megalopolis but all this talk aboutthe old characters made me decide against it.

I haven't run the high level stuff since I was a kid, so I would say I've never really run it, since I was basically clueless back then. I'd love to run Gary's high level stuff now that I have a good understanding of the rules with a good party. Maybe I'll bring back the high level guys for a session or two.

It never really takes off until you have players with fighters with extra money and piles of npcs then they have to.

5th level is the tilting point in my game. Once a character makes it there, the whole party's chance of surviving really increases.

I'm almost there (just chopped up the videos) but theres been a death in the family so I've been busy running around. I was wondering if i should augment the videos its 8 parts almost an hour so far. Maybe characters or monster illustrations interspersed.

3 more sections to do. I skipped ahead and finished the credits today. Its a little sloppy but good enough. Omigod the credits might be the best part! I've been laughing myself silly watching what I've wrought.

Theres a weird notion that i'm getting that the credits may be too funny...the C.I.A. wants to use it for psych ops in the Middle East.... Seriously, I can't stop laughing at the credits clip thats making people piss their pants but now that I've raised the watermrk for the entire piece I'm going to have to add more to the rest.
