Any thoughts on the sizes of a duchy, marquessate, county, viscounty, or barony?

I'd say the size is irrelevant to the title except that the "marches" are always going to be big as an incentive.

A typical barony might be the size of a fighter's freehold, i.e. 20-50 miles radius (probably a good example of the "border march" Gene referred to), or the size of a wizard's freehold of 10-20 miles radius on the more modest end.
The Viscounty of Verbobonc extends south from the Velverdyva River some 15 leagues (45 miles) into the Kron Hills, and is over 50 leagues (150 miles) in breadth.
There are several examples of duchies, counties and at least one marquessate (Bissel) -- many of which became palatinate in the wane of kingdoms.

Yeah, its hard to gauge GH established realms with no detail of how it got that size. Generally it seems that freeholds would all be within in a march. Most GH countries all should have various subsystems of government the only clue of which is the rank lists and the various "cracked off" ones that are mentioned.
