Has anybody done anything with this? I had it run to the Cave of the Unknown in one of the first KotB campaigns I ran. It was the sort of random, hodge-podge dungeon your typical 13 year old DM would cook up. Scott

I believe i did the same thing, Scott. The scary idea to the players was: "These humanoids sealed this up for a reason!"

Wherever it leads, it is somewhere the evil priest is willing to try to go if the battle goes against him and he gets to use his potion of gaseous form. While it might have been filled by the humanoids or zombies to prevent things from getting out, there are other possibilities as well. Perhaps there are things below who want to seal the passage against intruders. They could be good, evil or neutral. To put more evil humanoids down there may seem redundant at this stage (the players have likely had their fill of humanoids for a while). Here are some ideas I've had or used:
1. Passage leads to a dwarf hall, inhabited by dwarves. 2. Passage leads to a dwarf hall, that has been abandoned for a long time. 3. The evil shrine was defeated in the past, and good forces sealed up the lower passages. The current shrine of evil chaos is a 'restored' version. The evil priest has been intending to clear the boulders away and get in there. He is certain there is treasure and evil magic down there that he can make use of. 4. Passage leads to a series of natural caverns, that have such monsters as oozes, slimes, jellies, cave lizards, shriekers, piercers, and so on. 5. Passage leads to a complex under the Cave of the Unknown, similar to (or actually) Quasqueton of B1. It is the former stronghold of a high level magic-user. It is more about puzzles, wizard locked doors, tricks and traps -- a change of pace from the Caves of Chaos, with only an occasional encounter with troglodytes, giant rats, etc. 6. When the boulders have been removed, shadows and wraiths begin to pour out of the passage. Then armies of skeletons and zombies begin to march out, in file. By removing the boulders, the party does exactly what the evil priest intended to do. (Of course, among his papers and scrolls lying around, there are plenty of clues for the players that take their time to investigate and don't simply clear the passageway).

Yes, definitely the priests in B2 work well as Elemental Evilists. IMC the party brought some artifacts back to the Keep and the Curate researched them and saw them as signs of a resurging cult, sending them off to Hommlet to investigate further... Regards.

I was thinking this passage may connect/gate to something really weird: Area 51 remains of UFOs?
