Has anyone checked out the Mystic and Savant classes as presented in Footprints on the Dragonsfoot board? I was going to try to assemble some material, taking some leads from the Mysticism class of Mythus... what do you fellow board members think of these adaptations? They seem OK to me, though I would modify/add a few things--but hey, that goes without saying in any campaign, yes? ^__^

The author contacted me for feedback on those, but I had no time to give them a serious look. From what I saw they looked OK, but I told him they really should have unique spell lists, which I understand is a major undertaking without the Mythus Magic book. The hunter is probably the best class to use as a base, since there is a complete Mythus version and a complete AD&D version.

Wow!! I had forgotten about that Class... some of the spells/castings would have remained the same, but one look at Mysticism tells you that Gary had grander ideas! Still, not too bad IMNSHO... ^__^

I finally found copies of the Mythus books at a reasonable price, so I'll be checking the rules out for the first time (I bought Necropolis bitd, just didn't have any rules to go along with it). Any pointers for a first time reader?

Start with the Prime rules and build on that. Your full-blown priests and mages are Advanced, and it's tough to not jump into that, but I say stick with the Prime section and then add on.

Yeah--stat out a basic HP and get a feel for TRAIT, Category, etc.--then check out the Knowledge/Sill areas. Don't get caught up right away trying to construct the perfect "uber-character" like some of my friends did; my favorite HP is still my first--Grigori, the Thi--er, lightly armored scout! ^__^
