Carrying Capacity: This refers to the maximum volume of treasure and gear which may be carried away in containers brought by the character. Encum- brance limits supercede any extra capacity brought. Since treasure is usually coins, the volume is annotated by a detailing of the gold pieces this equals:

Anybody know what the carrying capacity for saddle bags would be? Any guesses?

Large sack.
I've never really thought it could be something else. But maybe it is.

That works. I've never really been too strict on encunbrence for mounts, but I'm going to try being a little more strict.

On second thought, I think it's probably more than that. Saddlebags weigh 7 and half times as much as a backpack or large sack. I know there isn't a direct carrying capacity ratio, but maybe something like 5 times more, or thereabouts.

I once thought of that but it might be that they're unwieldy without the horse.
The horses themselves carry a shitload.
I think for ref to consider you could look at A)the above sheet ref, B) the DMG enc chart, C)the MM horses enc. list, D) and the UA barding enc. chart.

Another good reference to not make it fantastic would be the various magical containers.

The again it is on a horse...and a magical item is personal. So o it actually might be more. Didn't we have this conversation already years ago? I'm getting deja vu
