I recently asked EGG about his pre-published version of Greyhawk, and he noted that in the early days the Great Kingdom was located were New York is.

Well that would plop Pittsburgh in Western Nyrond, right? Well there might not of been a Nyrond in those times anyway. Wasn't the Great Kingdom called Thalland in GNOME CACHE? Or maybe Thalland wasn't even the Great Kingdom and became fused by adding all the GK accoutrements that appeared in GNOME CACHE. So was Thalland framed with New York and later broken up to fit into the Great Kingdom? Or was "the wargame map" which featured Blackmoor, the Great Kingdom and Greyhawk created with the United States in mind? Speaking of the early days of the Great Kingdom, when I asked what the name of the other "KINGDOM GROUPS" that were part of that 1960's-1970's wargame group (that I will no longer name in abbreviated form either) both of the two of the "dudes" ignored the question. Was there masses of play groups on that society war map? Did they use some of the other group's names for official Greyhawk and now they're playing dumb? Hmmmm..... Hi Mr Gygax, we're the Nyrond brothers and we'd like to sign up for a kingdom on the war map and these are my cousins Jackie and Joey Furyondy who want to sign up as well...Could be...

In my homebrew campaign setting, the portion of the US that would be the original 13 colonies equates to the Great Kingdom, but it is actually closer to Furyondy/Veluna. Pittsburgh is like Verbobonc. Chicago is Greyhawk, Dyvers is Milwaukee. There is an city-state at the mouth of the Mississippi on the Gulf of Mexico. Northeast of the Great Lakes is Barbarian controlled. North and Northwest is wasteland. An Iuz/Sauron may soon be returning to rebuild his stronghold there, but it is currently wilderness. West of the mississippi is Wilderness, except for a few isolated strongholds. Florida/the Carribean is similar to the Wild Coast.

Sounds interesting. BTW, any more room in the campaign? I know its only 100 miles away but its been pretty dry on the game front lately... Just kidding! Seriously, speaking of that, believe it or not I'm tapped out on players for the first time in my life. I could go crawling back into the various metro rpg "demonwebs" to look for new ones but at what price? AT... WHAT.... PRICE!!!
