I've been reading INVINCIBLE Compendium One by Robert Kirkman because I prefer to read the comic book before watching the animated show on Amazon. It is hard to say anything about this without giving spoilers, so I will just say Kirkman has a lot of fun playing with the genre... Somehow, he has struck a balance between traditional and subversive. He's the same guy who wrote THE WALKING DEAD, but if you find that too grim or tedious, this is a lot more fun although at times it is brutal and gory.

It's great so far. I'm on issue 32. I see there are 144 issues total in the entire run. I ordered Compendiums Two and Three from Eric so I can read the whole thing. Kirkman has built his own super-hero multiverse which is in some ways reminiscent of DC and Marvel, but it definitely has its own identity once it is up and running.
