Other than a few background dwarves in Rivendell, Gimli was the only dwarf in the LotR movies. I thought they did a good job in FotR, but I was disappointed as the trilogy went on. I understand the reasoning behind the looks of the dwarves in the Hobbit, but I wasn't really a fan on any of them. They were all too over the top. Gloin's look was ok. I guess it was the Gimli connection.

Some of the dwarves were okay but overall I wanted "film monsters" who were really there. All the forced perspective things seem not full faced enough. For an example, I've lined up a package of HOBBIT THERE AND BACK AGAIN action figures (that I received as a gift two years ago when it came out) with some official TSR AD&D action figures. Both scale up to classic STAR WARS sized action figures so this is assumed to be the size they are in the films. NOTE: Bilbo is slightly elevated more than the other figures in the package:

Had some trouble loading that picture right side up.
Anyway, the gyst is that the mass of full-faced-ness seen in the TSR dwarves in the photo is lost in these HOBBIT films.
