I was trying to figure out the difference between regular and composite bows in 2e. The Arms & Equipment Guide says composite bows have a longer range due to their flexibility, but the range table in the PHB shows a regular long bow having slightly better range than the composite long bow. They also weigh the same. The only difference I can see is a speed factor better by only 1.
Is that the only difference? Why is a composite bow more expensive?
Thanks.

2nd edition is crap. They were wading around in the dark. "Second-guessing Edition" is what it should have been called! Regular bowsare more advantageous for the outdoors and the composite bows are more advantageous for indoors (dungeons). Why? Its obvious if I had one type of longbow in each hand. You'd be like ohh... never mind!
