Is Aerth the setting most use for their Mythus games? There's a lot I like about it, but it's almost too much Earth. Any homebrew, or other published settings?

If I am ever able to start a campaign, it would probably be set in Aerth in what would be Southwestern China. There are a lot of Eastern weapons, armor, K/S, etc. in Mythus as it is. It seems perfect for that type of setting. I'm leaning towards a somewhat less civilized region for my campaign because my one complaint about Aerth is that it is a bit too cosmopolitan. From SW China events would hopefully lead toward Burma, Nepal, Afghanistan, and so on.

I'd use a very Flanaess-flavored Vargard as a starting point, and try to get the HPs around as much as possible using aerth as is, but I'd prefer a somewhat darker, more medieval feel.

Well, I must admit that I never liked the Aerth setting I have used my own setting each time I have JM'ed a campaign. I mostly start up with just drawing the local area in which the players are starting, and then expand when there is need. In my current campaign, I am giving it a shot on creating a more coherrent (world-)story. If I one day gets it written up in something I believe is worth reading through, I would be happy to post it. But with my raher busy schedule, I am usually happy when I just find time to organize a session

I think it's a great book to read. I think there's a lot of good stuf you can pull out of the book, but as setting, as a whole, it doesn't thrill me.

I've been working on some house rules for the Asian-themed Mythus game I mentioned above. You can grab a pdf of my current revision HERE. So far most of my changes are martial arts based. I've added throws to non-lethal combat, replaced the Combat, HTH(Lethal) Sub-Areas with martial arts styles(monkey kungfu, wing chun, tai chi, and more!), and added the Qigong K/S(develop abilities like Stone Fist, Iron Skin, Gecko Walk, and others). I'll also be adding a lot of errata and formulas to use in the spreadsheet I linked in my Mythus Character Sheet topic. Mythus has nice hand to hand combat rules, and I hope I've made them even better. There's certainly a lot more flavor now.

I'm very into Aerth.
My campaign centers on Ys and it's surrounding area... At least to start.
Cheers!

Still haven't been able to get a campaign of the ground. Maybe I'll put it out there with my gaming group.

I'd be willing to try out the Dangerous Journeys system.
I have often thought a great DJ campaign setting would be Jack Vance's LYONESSE trilogy. In this series of books, there are some islands SW of Ireland, W of France, and NW of Spain and they are the center of the action. They are the "Elder Isles" and have a mix of legends and inventions by Vance. Ys is located on the western shore of the largest island, Lyonesse is one of the largest kingdoms, and the royalty of this island are related to and predecessors of King Uther Pendragon and this is where the original round table came from. It is set prior to the time of the historical King Arthur, so that means prior to the 5th century, but has a lot of High Middle Ages anachronisms for flavor. It definitely captures that feel of an "alternate Earth/Aerth." Knowing what a huge Vance fan EGG was, I often wonder if he thought the same thing while writing the DJ rules and coming up with the Aerth setting, as the LYONESSE books came out in the 80's (1983, 1985 and 1990 IIRC). Highly recommended.
