Anybody considering attending this? The scheduled dates are January 12th & 13th. It would be a nice con to attend. Small, very personal atmosphere. I'd like to go.

I'd like to go unfortunately I'll have to pass. My funds are at a bare minimum.
I do see being able to make the next Lake Geneva con in the Summer. So we'll see how things are in the Spring...

I won't be attending that one, though, like Gene, I'm planning to do so for LGGC.

It's a possibility. I'll certainly be at LGGC IV next summer.

Hopefully I'll see you there. It's tough to plan that far ahead for a small con.

Well, I'm definitely not eating at a restaurant next Summer. It was too much of a waste of time. The Wisconsinite wait staff's homespun charm "wiled away the time" way too fast for me. I never got a chance to try some fast food "butter hamburger" joint or even the greasy spoon that Gary suggested to get coffee at.
The "Real Gary tour" was classic and I suggest you get on the bus. I might have to go again!
The real problem that I had was the con style gameplay with the busload of players. 2 days I played that game and I got in about 40 minutes worth of interaction on my part. I'm definitely having a controlled time span when I DM next year.

Oh yeah, I managed to have some drinks with my meal but come night time, I went to the room and collapsed. I want to check out the real Lake Geneva next year...

Yes, the con parties can definitely get out of hand. That's another reason I'm going to push to make it to this smaller con.

There's this GREAT Irish restaurant/pub. Also many great breakfast places. And the place across the street from my store does this amazing Brat & Kraut...
I'm not really an area restaurant connoisseur, mainly because if I'm going out to eat it had better be something that they cook better than my wife! I'm really craving Indian and Thai food a lot lately, and there's nothing anywhere nearby...

There was quite a lot innuendo that fellow con goers were frequenting the darker side of town, some were fairly obvious however a few bits of half remarks I couldn't seem to fathom. The lake must go very deep...

Will your store be fully up-and-running by the summer? If so, I'd definitely like to make a trek to check it out. If we can keep Rob's games down to about 10 players, that'll manage better, I think (we ran 10 per table at GenCon and it went pretty well).

The store's open, man! I sold Gary a copy of Settlers of Catan at the opening party on September 1st. Today so far I've sold a Mah Jongg set and a copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Former TSR employees are constantly wandering in. Bruce Heard most recently. Or they guy who came in the other day and said his uncle Allan Hammack used to DM for him, or the guy whose regular DM was Ernie Gygax. Doug Niles, Harold Johnson, Jim Ward, Jeff Easley, Margaret Weis, Don Perrin... all live right around here. It's pretty crazy.
I was in Chicago last night and spent $37.37 on Indian food. Good stuff. There was a Thai restaurant right next door which caused me a dilemma, but the wife wanted Indian for herself and some of her fellow Parisian Dancing Girls (in this little opera she's in), so I naturally obliged.

I think the Winter's Dark Con looks really cool. I feel bad that I haven't gone to any Lake Geneva-based Cons yet... I've been meaning to for many years, but either didn't have the money or the time, or just never scheduled it. But this Con sounds right up my alley, small and a chance to meet many of the Lake Geneva locals and finally get a chance to ask Gary to sign my DMG. Maybe I can somehow tie it into business travel to the Chicago area, and take a few personal days to drive (or snowmobile) up there.

If you want a tip on signing get Gary to sign as soon as you see him and don't ask just hand it to him.

No, unfortunately, as much as I'd like to there's no way.
