For those of you who have some experience with Lejendary Adventures, how much do the rulebooks address the issue of the planes of existence? Is Gary's approach in LA similar to the AD&D approach (i.e. multiple planes of existence with occasional traffic between them by powerful beings) or does LA come at the issue in a different way?
I've never really seen Gary write about significant amounts of planar adventuring either in his original Greyhawk campaign or in his LA games. I'm assuming that means that, except for the occasional foray into other planes for specific purposes, he never really focused on adventuring in the planes of existence. I was just wondering if his latest game reflects this in the way the rulebooks treat the subject of the planes.

Well, there are "exalted dimensions" and "nether dimensions" in LA, as well as the elemental planes. Also, Gary has developed some other-planar critters that aren't published yet for LA, so some anticipation lies in that direction. But you do seem to be correct--outside of maybe elemental/shadow planar and "pocket" dimensional adventures, Gary seems to solidly ground adventures on "Terra Prima" ^__^

Thanks for the answer GT!
One more quick question on the subject. Does the LA cosmology include the equivalent of the Astral and Ethereal planes (i.e. some "linking" planes that allow travel between normal existence and the other planes)?

There is indeed an "aether" which is a "neutral" plane where immaterial spirits reside. There are also positive, negative and shadow planes. As for the Astral, I can't say... ^__^
