It sounds like I'll begin running S4 sometime in next month, or in January. I'm really looking forward to it, since the crew I game with are veteran players who've never, to a man, played or read S4!

Good stuff! Do they have established characters?

Are you running S4 more or less as published, or doing anything unique with it?

I hope they fare better than the last group I put through there. I'd still like to see how the negative effects of the lamp play out in an ongoing campaign.

Good stuff! Do they have established characters? Sort of: three of the PCs will have adventured in Thieves Fortress Badobaskor prior to taking up the long trek to Tsojcanth. All of the PCs, though, are our "B-team" PCs, so they're starting at 6th level (our primary/A-team PCs are all 9th-12th level). Are you running S4 more or less as published, or doing anything unique with it? Depends on how things go, but my intent is to add the Underground Lake level for sure, and perhaps another level or two as well (a level with Iggwilv's labs, conjration rooms, living quarters, study, etc.; another that's guardrooms, barracks, empty vaults, etc.). Some of the players were pretty against Caverns of Thracia when we started this campaign 3 years ago, so I want to be sure that we don't end up in too-similar a situation with LCoT. So, I think the only one that's a definite addition is the underground lake. I hope they fare better than the last group I put through there. Time will tell ;D I'd still like to see how the negative effects of the lamp play out in an ongoing campaign. Heh. I'd like to see this group try to hang onto it---somehow I don't think they'd likely succeed

Jealous! I am familiar with the adventure, but have never played it. I think my next campaign will be an all early TSR module one... Have fun with it!

Well, we still haven't started: so far we're still hip-deep in Badabaskor, so it may be awhile still before we begin S4. I'll know better after our session on Saturday.

I'm looking forward to the write up. S4 has always been one of my all time favorites.

And it sounds like we'll hopefully begin during or after our session on January 30th!

Heh, this clearly didn't happen, but we may be looking at S4 again sometime in the Dec/Jan timeframe. I'll keep folks posted (and I'm starting in again on new levels, etc.).

S4 is one of my favorites as well. We had a TPK the first time through. Mostly do to our poor playing then the difficulty of the module.
We did it as a one shot, it would be interesting to see how this module would integrate with an ongoing campaign.

I'm am going to drop an NPC into my game that may steer the party to this adventure. The party's in the right level range and this has always been a favorite of mine. In Rappan Athuk there is a cursed warrior in the dungeon, Marthek in the published version, but he was killed by other PCs a while back. I've replaced him with Saringar, a knight errant from Bissel. Cursed by the priests of Orcus, he now serves as a guardian on the 2nd dungeon level. If they rescue him he will try to get them to come with him back to Bissel, where they will be drawn into the Tsojcanth plot.
