He's an evil arch-mage located far below. Anybody have any additional information on this character?

He's a character in the short story involving Castle Greyhawk in NIGHT ERRANT.

He wasn't evil in Night Arrant, was he?
I'm going to have to re-read those again (my wife is currently on them).

Oh yeah, he tries a double cross.
I'll dig it out, here it is:
The Heart of Darkness page 7-46
Yeah, he did something to get their ire. From the dialogue, Chert and Gord are pissed. I can't recall exactly but I think he tricked them into going with him into the castle. I'll have to reread it.

He's not frothing at the mouth evil, but sinister. Like he wouldn't go out of the way to kill you, but would have no second thoughts about it if you had something he wanted.

He's an opportunist, probably Neutral (Evil) or Chaotic Neutral... Jeff certainly knows more of Gary's intent! ^__^

I definitely took him to be Neutral-selfish, rather than evil, from the short story, but it wouldn't take much to persuade me to push him over the edge, I'm sure.

He's an opportunist, probably Neutral (Evil) or Chaotic Neutral... Jeff certainly knows more of Gary's intent! ^__^ This was something I originally pushed for, the inclusion of Eneever Zig as a possible recurring antagonist. At first Gary was reluctant, as he was not inclined to associate the short story with the dungeons, but then he grew to like the idea and encouraged me to include EZ. We discussed some ideas, but those I can not share, because Mrs. Gygax forbids me from speaking about the intent of any then planned future developments. What she fails to understand is that several ideas, should this project ever resume, die with me, because Gary and I privately communicated them, including Eneever Zig. C'est la vie. My advice is to just make it all up, because that is all any prospective CZ developer is going to have to do. Likely you guys are better suited at making it up than whoever is provided the reins to this project.

I fully intend to use Eneever Zig and others as recurrent foes in the dungeons (as well as placing ocassional NPC's of weal), as the more "uncertain" encounters, the better! I'm even going to have the Green Man from UK1 make an appearance at some point (will the PC's trust his offer of ale, stout and lager? Will it aid or hinder them?) Heh! ^__^

That was one of my favorite module covers, UK1.

I may even have "John Barleycorn by Fairport Convention or Traffic playing in the living room at low volume when they encounter the GM and see how perceptive the PC's are... ^__^
