Good point. Plus how do you discuss something you enjoy on the net in a way that makes it just as enjoyable as just doing it? Gary had that "lost legend" feel to him so we all gravitated to him because he was there. But so did all the D&D yoyos abroad that envision a "faithful hound" spell as an invisible Pikachu... they gravitated to him because of his name and because he was there. Didn't matter that they considered him unnecessary in the same breath that they lauded him... he was there. On various sites on the web theres a creeping feeling that you're still rubbing elbows with a bunch of bonafide textbook D&D dickweeds where once (out of respect for Gary) you let the entirety of his "fans" alone but now it all seems to be for no real reason at all anymore...well... thats a little awkward to say the very least! Remember all those 2e-lovin' douchers with that shitty "I have a sense of entitlement because I'm under Gary's protection as an associate" attitude? Well, Gary's gone and heres my knee in your teeth, you bastards!!! I don't even feel restrained at all anymore. I'm parading into the next GenCon and claiming D&D for the fans!!! Boo-YAH!!! Alright, maybe I'm feeling too good...

I agree. There are sites I frequent that have gangs of posters that I'm not on the same page with (to put it less colorfully than you). And they all sing Gary/1E, but it's like a catchy theme song for a crappy TV series.

Well, there you go! I still have loads of fun playin' "old school" gaming with the old crew! I my even bring the gaming material on my Wabash River canoe trip and indoctrinate some new players! ^__^
