Uggh, I just went food shopping today since all this funeral stuff was taking up the beginning of this week. What a mob! What the hell is all this for? Puritan mass combined with an aboriginal feast with latter day harvest festival overtones? Isn't the harvest over? There never was puritan in my family although my wife's family is "Indian" they're not associated with the northeast tribes. I was thinking of romanizing it as the start of the winter festival for years but it keeps getting shot down... "Shut up and eat your 25 lb bird already, smart ass!"

Happy Thanksgiving! This is the traditional time of year when I avoid estranged relatives (drug addicts, crooks, and general lowlifes) by not answering the doorbell...

Happy Thanksgiving! I only went to one store to buy beaujolais nouveau, and they were out! So prosecco will be serving as the aperitif this year.

I'm spack dab in the middle of every fucking holiday fear magnified by 10: in a packed house of strangers with mob rule in place.

This is the year of resolutions. No more wedding/holidays is the number one resolution. Number two is family is something you make and maintain.

Trap #1 was the wedding with the hostile inlaws, trap #2 was just supposed to be Thanksgiving with inlaws but there was a # 2A traproom that just as financially lethal along the way to traproom #2. The invitation to see someone's house and pay for the packed house's breakfast. Now for number three. All day laboring to get the house ready to mix friends with inlaws for my son's birthday. The trap here is there is no trap but plenty of wandering monsters whittling down "the party"....

Heh, the birthday party wasn't bad but too many inlaw relatives. Tried to get a good "sci-fi corner" going but too many assholes interrupting.

I saw a meme recently that reminded me of this thread, a guy sitting on a couch at a party. "Maybe if I don't move, the in=laws won't see me".
