I just finished reading this. While I liked the Gord books, Gary's writing in the DJ books I've read is so much better than the Gord stories. I was a fan of the Gord books because of the Greyhawk content, but there were points that made me cringe. The first three DJ books are basically Sherlock Holmes type yarns, but Holmes is replaced by the wizard Priest Setne Inhetep. Not really S&S stuff, not a lot of action, but a nice blend of mystery and fantasy.

Is "Infernal Sorceress" from this era of books, as well?

Yes it is, but it's different characters and more action swords & sorcery.

Was Infernal Sorceress by EGG, or just another DJ book?

Though I like these book, and am really glad that Paizo has reprinted them, I do think there are a few low points in them. For Samarkand solution the worst was the gratuitous affair with the slave princess. I so wanted her to be Louhi!
