I’ve had players discuss the possibility of moving into the Caverns. There are numerous listed mundane entry points for monsters to access the detailed caverns, but what about the planer nexus aspect of the place? Any thoughts?

Well the Greek mythology world might connect to Zagyg's castle's Greek mythology world entrance. The pentacle fortress' exact owners are either a wizard or cleric somewhere. They'd have to be allied to her somehow to have a permanent backdoor for her. The pentacles being somewhat neutral in their purpose (lock Efreeti, others) suggests nothing. Whether they're in Greyhawk or not is debatable as well. The original Hill Giant(s) in the protomodule was Chinese. So maybe there is a GHC connection nearby in in the Greek mythology world since there was that bottom level to China...

I think the Greek Mythology demi-plane was probably the inspiration for the canyon in the module, but the fact that the centaurs there are still wearing necklaces linked to the caverns makes me doubt the two should be considered the same. I've considered the pentacled hall to be in a dmi-plane stronghold of Iggwilv's, or maybe in Garz'zt's palace.

Perhaps the Pentacled Hall is in one of Iuz's dungeons? That would make sense. The hall is active, chanting, etc. can be heard. Iggwilv is still lost in the Abyss at this time. I wouldn't think Iuz was aware of the ability to travel to the averns though; this may have been set up by Iggwilv earlier, and the secret never revealed to Iuz.

Perhaps it would work with spontaneous Gate spells popping up at random? Also add that all conjuration/summoning spells cast within the greater caverns are more potent!
