George has been riding that Star Wars wave for too long now. I just read that Lucas originally wrote a story for the 4th movie called Indiana Jones and the Saucer Men From Mars, but Ford and Speilberg shot that down. Most of the stuff with his name associated with it since Star Wars has a quality level that rises when his involvement in the production of the movie decreases.

We'll skip Howard the Duck, right?

George's heart is in the right place but sometimes it isn't enough to just throw money at shit which is what he does best. He relied a lot on fellow exhuberance for STAR WARS and when the credits rolled for that first movie he's been "inside the Hollywood box" ever since.
What he needs to do is piss away all his cash and give us something raw again like THX to get back 100% with me.

Anyone seen the Indiana Jones movie yet? I have, but I'll reserve comment if you guys would rather wait and see for yourselves...

Three of my friends saw it and called it "unspectacular". But my thought is: I'm not going to see anything groundbreaking--I just wanna be entertained; like the old Saturday serials that the franchise was based off of in the first place. But, I still think an "Indy finds subterranean Atlantis/lost civilization/strange creatures" movie would've been "kick-butt"! ^__^

"Unspectacular" might be the nice way of putting it. I know there's a certain amount of "suspending your disbelief" when watching these movies, but some of it was so ludicrous and/or inane, that I was slightly disappointed by it. Finding Atlantis or a lost civilisation, on the other hand...

I would say it was the weakest of the lot, but still worth seeing on the big screen, especially if you have little ones. It was a fun adventure, light-hearted and action-packed.

Weaker than the Temple of Doom? Not really a fan of that one.

Heather and I saw it opening weekend, and enjoyed it---as good as Crusade, perhaps better since it had a few surprises that I certainly wasn't expecting

Most detractors gripe because it's more "sci-fi" than the others... enjoy the ride, kids: if it isn't the last Indiana Jones movie, it's certainly getting there! C'mon... Lucas has changed just as the world has (witness the Star Wars prequels), but what can you do? In the Reagan era, I was a Republican (and still stand by The Gipper); now I'm a Libertarian (since about 1988)... see how your views change in twenty years... ^__^

I finally saw this. As soon as it started, I get this surge saying, wow, I'm getting ready to watch a new Indiana Jones movie. I got a similar rush when I first watched the first Star Wars prequel. I'm happy to say this movie left a much better taste in my mouth. It wasn't great. There were moments where they went too far. There were some definite latter day Lucasisms in there. But overall, I enjoyed it, maybe a little better the Temple of Doom, which I wasn't really a fan of.

Heh, I finally saw this too - when it came out on DVD a few weeks back. I thought it was pretty good. I figured it probably just wouldn't be as good as the first 3 movies, so my expectations were right in line with what they did with the film.

I just got the DVDs for my bday, will be watching them all again soon (I haven't seen Doom in decades, and Crusade in quite awhile either), since Ethan is gaga over Indiana Jones, and wants to watch some of them (he's only seen the opening sequence of Raiders so far).
