Has anybody set this dungeon in Greyhawk? Where did you place it? Somewhere along the west coast of Whyestill Lake seems to fit the wilderness map. Scott

Well, I've thought about it, but there are parts that just aren't logical to me in the gaming sense of the term--ie.; "What is this doing here?" I mean, essentially it's a giant hack-fest culminating in a meeting with Orcus, some demons and some undead. If my PC's were gonna confront Orcus, I'd do it in a more round-about way--not through a dungeon. I like some of the encounters found there-in, but it's not a "Greyhawk" type of scenario, IMO... Hack-fest is what I'm looking for. I have the regular weekend game with the more traditional adventures, but I have a lot of apur of the moment games through out the week, since some of my players are neighbors too. I tried using Greyhawk Ruins as a substitute, but I can't stomach it any longer, and I need a big, hack-fest mega-dungeon to hold the players over until CZ is released. Scott

As a mega-dungeon, Rappan Athuk is good. Some of it may not be logical, but I'm not worried about that. It's a pretty fun dungeon. It's a pain converting some of the D20 stuff, but not too bad. Scott

Scott---
You could also place is on the shores of the Drawmij---perhaps up near the Burneal Forest.
I've considered putting it the Wild Coast, in the Bandit Kingdoms, along the eastern coast of the Great Kingdom (perhaps linking it to the Isle of Lost Souls from Ivid the Undying), in the wilds of Iuz, and near Dyvers along the shores of the Nyr Dyv.
It really can go just about anywhere---the oceanic portions of the wilderness encounters could just as easily be dropped into one of GH's lakes, or removed altogether since they play such a small role in the wilderness additions to the module.

Yeah, you could place it anywhere and change the wilderness setting to fit. I was just trying to place it somewhere that matched the released version. Other than the coast of the Whyestill, I think the southern coast somewhere along the Ulek/Pomarj border works, but the more that I think about it, the more I like the location between the Vesve and the Whyestill. I'm very fond of the Whyestil region---that's where I set my 175 CY game. I laid out a map of the area on a large poster-sized hexagonal map (one of my players worked as a CAD artist at an architectural firm), but haven't gotten around to finishing it, since the game ended before that became necessary....

I haven't used these modules but I bought them. Not wanting to waste my money I've decided to place them at the eastern shores of the Great Kingdom, between the Gull cliffs and Rel Astra. I figured that Orcus, a death god the Romans stole from the Phoenicians, could match the situation where the Oeridians claimed the lands of the Flannish folk. It made sense to me.

Yeah, I've done some conversion work. The party goes through it faster than I can convert though, so I often end up converting on the fly. Scott

Hmmmm, maybe we could go in cahoots together.
Tell me the amount of detail you want and a level or area and I can start on a conversion.

As much as you feel like writing. I usualy just do the stats, but if I have the time I go back and detail the important or tricky encounters, and the encounters I like. I am not running the adventure right now, so I haven't done any work in a while, but I will probably start on it soon. Scott

Time to animate this dead thread. Maylin and his henchmen are about to start investigating this mega dungeon. Anybody interested in joining the fun? Because I already have a regular game night, we will be playing irregular, short sessions when we can arrange time.
