Rhu, not so P M, I'm interested in the WoM.
Also, I've linked the old BX modules Lost City and Castle Amber to my own version of the dungeons, and a few others I'll try to recall.

Yeah... I'm definitely interested in the Mars stuff, Rhu! I never got that supplement! [gt@tctc.com] Scotty: I didn't link "Lost City", but I did decide Castle Amber would be a link, as well as the Hall Of Many Panes (with much adapting, naturally! Woodstock the bard meets MacGreggtim the bard! Heh!!) ;D

I've been 'interested' in the Warriors of Mars book for a long time now. I've heard a lot of talk that doesn't really say much. I'm very curious.

I got mine today, too -- just opened it -- but I can't read it yet! I'm playing in it tomorrow. That makes it tough to talk about around here. Maybe a new thread...

I'm also interested in the .pdf Rhu (since I've never gotten around to scanning mine ). I'll be wrapping up my review today/tonight, hopefully (I have the day off, so I'm hoping another 2000 words or so will wrap up CZ for now).

Warriors of Mars is actually pretty sweet in a 1974 TSR kinda way! Thanks Rhu!! I also dowloaded some files from some Burroughs sites to flesh out critters and plants, so if anybody should happen to stumble through a portal to--say--MARS, then I'll have some ol' time fun in store for 'em! ^__^

E-mails going out shortly to the rest of you guys. Normally, I don't like to share PDFs, but in this case - the booklet is what, over $600 and the PDF is not available commercially, so . . I almost always prefer print anyway. Rhu.

I'd expected much more discussion on this thing, considering what it is. You don't know how hard it is for me not to read it. But, I'm glad to be able to play in it first. So I'm not complaining. How about posting a non-spoiler review? I don't expect to write any real review any time soon. There's just too much material. Just reading it, enough to keep up with the campaign is time consuming enough on top of all the other matters that need attending to. More likely it will be a string of opinions and observations.

A few thoughts: I'm no fan of the art, and I find the players' illustrations to be pretty much useless. I do like the maps though. The best general description I can make is that it is very much like the Caves of Chaos on a much grander scale, but with much more intricate relationships set up between some of the existing powers. Very Gygaxian in feel. Very easy to convert to 1E on the fly. Nice to see stats for some elements I've known about for years. I've actually had the Castle Precincts map for a few years now, with some brief notes on what lived there. It was cool to see the complete layout and compare it to how I fleshed it out in my mind; it's much more active and organized than I had imagined. There are some Greyhawk references in there. More later.

Gary, I was using the Castle Precincts map for an online campaign I ran for you several years ago, but you didn't go much further than the Outer Gatehouse. From there you ambushed and TPKed other online parties that were trying to access the ruins, but I could never understand why you attacked when they were arriving, instead of leaving with the treasure thay had found. I think you killed one of Gene's characters that way.

I was playing a chaotic evil character who just wanted to kill something. It was more of a whim, than a plan.
In retrospect, I'm sorry I killed them, but for an out-of-character reason: I think it is kind of lame for other players to experience TPK that is not of the result anything they did or chose. There's no save versus sleep.
("We approach the gatehouse." "You're dead.")
Arbitrary death is part of the game, sometimes -- but an annoying part.

Oh yeah, the evil cleric of Orcus, I think, and his associates. I try to avoid the arbitrary death encounters, but in player vs. player situations, I let the dice fall where they may. Also, that's why you send one character ahead to scout.
