I know, it's AD&D, but it's 2nd ed. and different enough to warrant it's own thread in "other games".
Has anyone ever been in a Spelljammer campaign or adventure? I've been thinking that it would be a cool change of pace to run one for the guys who have been playing D&D for decades (like me).

I'd be willing to give it a try. I was curious about it when it was first released, but haven't really thought about it in a long time.

I'd suggest doing something original. I bought 6 or 7 products for it "thinking it would get better" (once again!) and it was just more aesthetically unpleasing style with vague content for farspanning areas. Eventhe air ships and interior art by Holloway couldn't sustain it. I crumpled it all up and tossed it with the exception of a galleon "card" by Holloway (the other ships were unsavable).
I'd recommend making a "fantasy into space" from scratch.

I agree with you to a point. I like the basic mechanics of the SpellJammer system but a lot of the campaign material could be better. I think one of the problems is that they threw a different writer at it for each supplement so there's not a lot of consistency.
It's an interesting way to tie together the multiple published campaign worlds like Toril and Krynn. The wildspace environment is also a neat change of pace from dungeon and wilderness crawling.

Well, if you're a fan of those settings it might make sense but I see those (Krynn, Toril, Mystara, post-hostile takeover Greyhawk, etc.) as flawed in their own way! They seem(ed) to me more about "closing options" to establish "corporate product identity" than fun tools to make it your own but thats an entirely different argument. Slightly looking at it, as it relates to SPELLJAMMER in some ways as well, those settings offered a lot of "overhead" in the form of unnecessary background, history, and style guides which subtract from gamer input. Rather than supply hard and fast "grabs" to immediately bring to the table which is what the whole D&D phenomena relied on. If you bought lets say...a DARK SUN supplement then chances are there were three or four aspects to bring to the table and most came in the form of the designer's personal "vanity fair" for their player characters (i.e: "Whoopee look guys my character will be used by millions just because its in this book which has a fanbase!"). The TSR WORLDS as they were known had (have) little to offer but a loss of your own personality as its melded in to make their mediocrity "work" at the table. The "worlds" to use are the ones mentioned in the DUNGEON MASTERS GUIDE: Or the suggestions from the 1981 "basic D&D for kids" which even though it was laid out for pre-teens/teens it covers more styles: These are far better alternatives to "D&D Worlds" from my experience and far more rewarding for you and your players. What a cheese!

Unless you're old and lazy, then you can open a box and say "let's play!"
I like under "Non-Fiction", "The Book of Imaginary Beings'.

Only if it were so easy... True, you also need to decide where to order delivery from. that's the hard part. :-D

Thankfully for me, 3 blocks away is KFC, WENDYS, PIZZA HUT, QUIZNO'S, BOSTON MARKET, CARVEL ICE CREAM, Homemade Italian Ices and Ice Cream stand, PAPA JOHN'S, 3 mom & pop Pizzerias, 3 chinese restaurants and a NATHANS so I just cut everybody loose for a break. I've got my old players coming this weekend including my cousin Bill so it'll most likely be pizza and cannolis.

And the silhouette of the WORLD TRADE CENTER would've been right down the middle of my street every sunset but I bought this place in 2002...DOH!

I'd rather try the Hero-System game, but I'll try to make whatever you run.
