In AD&D, you knew what characters could handle a module based on their levels. How do you determine what HPs are fit for an adventure in Mythus? K/S STEEP? Scott

Yeah, I would use KS/ STEEP in base class as a measure of how difficult an adventure would be. Looking at some of the monsters in Mythus, higher level adventures would be very deadly indeed. Necropolis would fit the bill for a high difficulty adventure quite nicely.

Also, the diversity of skills of the HP's is a yardstick. And a Full Practitioner has a bit more of a punch than a Partial. I had always wanted to see "Ascalon" come out because it would have provided a multi-layered arena for adventuring. Gary's "Necropolis" and my own "Lost Ziggurat" were deadly tour-de-forces; and meant to be! Sort of like what S1 was for AD&D. The "Starfire" mini-adventure in the back of the MYTHUS handbook was quite good for beginners. I had visions of a great Atlantean adventure, and had hoped Gary could get out a Setne novel set there, but--Oh, well. I still hold out hope that someday somebody will look at the MYTHUS material and go "Hey! This is great stuff; let's re-release it!" Currently, the "Ascalon" setting is being considered for D20 release--just to get it out there. But it's sad that we have to settle for "an alternative" rather than the original setting.

Only such that it is a busy port city setting with OP's and adventure hooks for players to pursue set in Philistia on Aerth. I've given my two cents worth that i would like it as close to the original as possible in D20 format...

I've been wondering about this again. I'd like to run Necropolis, and I'd prefer to do it using the Mythus system. What do you look for to know the HPs are ready for what I've heard would be considered a 'high level' adventure?

Well, if they've run through several earlier adventures to "prime" them, then they should be ready. Gary takes you through a couple of introductory adventures in Necropolis to set the mood and prepare everyone (if they pay attention!) And frankly, 'party diversity' is very important... we had eight or more HP's and two OP's (Madaya & Anatia), and three still "bought the farm"! A priest of Sunlight helps (we had a Partial Prac.) and an Elemental School mage with some White School is very good(we had a Full Prac.). We also had a Mystic (long story--Anatia, OP picked up earlier!) with some thieving skills, and add to that Madaya's Green School/Ethos of Moonlight abilities. Let's see... a couple of good Mercenaries, a Thief, a Knight, a White School Dweomercraefter--these were all very handy as well!

I've read through it a few times. It's got a great format. You can definitely see the tone-setters, but as a neophyte I still don't have much of a base.
